About Amy McMurray Photography

I am a mother, wife, daughter, friend and photographer. I am committed to myself and my clients to get the best photographs possible for you and your loved ones. I am committed to the high standards of the Professional Photography Industry. I am a member of PPA, and WPPI. I attend workshops and conventions throughout the year to keep the standards of my skills fresh and knowlege of "Photoshop" so that I can stay on top of the trends and challenges that I as a photographer find myslef constantly facing in the industry. All of my products are sent to a proffessional lab away from the "Tri-Cities". This is my full time job. I do not have a "real" job that I go to and pursue this simply to fund my hobby. This is my "REAL" job. Before booking a session I will ask you what is it that you are looking for? Are you looking for something for your wall? How big is the space that you intend to place your portrait? Are you considering an album of the session? What will you be wearing? I always recommend solid clothing, try to stay away from patterns, stripes, and plaids. I typically shoot all location. I love the outdoors and I am able to stay with fresh ideas outside. In the event of inclement weather, we will simply reschedule for another day. My session fee is $50.00 and is paid in advance to reserve the date. I will spend about 45 minutes on the average session and show you around 30 proofs. I show many images that are color enhanced, textured and many black and whites. All Saturday sessions require a $300.00 minimum purchase to hold the date.I am looking forward to hearing from you and getting to know you.

  • While we try to teach our children about life, Our children teach us what life is all about…..

    June 10th, 2010

Cindy, Logan, and Owen.  For a couple of years now Cindy has wanted me to come down on “the river” to get pictures of her boys playing in the water.  Standing calf deep in mud, I was able to get these boys in their “rowdiest” attitudes.  I have a feeling that dad is going to love his fathers day gift.

    Happy Birthday Nalan!

    April 7th, 2010

He has to be the cutest one year old little guy that I have ever photographed.  Nalan’s first birthday was two days after this shoot and I suspect that he was going to have a very BIG turnout for his party.  Who wouldn’t show up for this little guy?  He is the CUTEST lil man on the planet!

    Spring Fever

    March 27th, 2010

It’s spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!  ~Mark Twain

After a very long winter I was more than “itching” to get back outside to do some location shooting.

I love spring.  Tulips are my favorite flower so seeing them bud out and bloom always puts a smile on my face even on a damp, rainy day.

I have been busy shooting engagements and lots of children, and famalies.  Here are a few samples of what I have done this week.

Introducing New Collages and New Storyboards in my boutique line

    February 25th, 2010

Since, I am no longer photographing weddings I can not give up working on storybook albums completely can I?  For the past month I have been working on incoporating albums into my boutique line along with new “Defined Storyboards and Collages”.  Here is just a sample of what I have.

Sugar and Spice and Everything Nice

    February 20th, 2010

For the past two months at book club we have had the privalege of “Baby Chelsea” joining us.  Since the rest of the book club members have older kids we have loved being able to pass around a baby, watch her smiles and stare at amazement at her tiny features.  Today I had the pleasure of photographing Baby Chelsea and her sisters.  I loved the pink playhouse!  I was completely envious that I didn’t have one when I was growing up.

    A wonderful Sunday afternoon

    February 10th, 2010

Back in October I was sitting around the house being bored on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.  I called my sister and asked her what Katie and her friends were doing that day.  They weren’t doing anything.  I asked her if their parents would let me photograph them just so I could I have fun.  “of course”  they replied!  Then I called my best friend Angela and asked her what Truman was doing?  “Nothing”.  “Will she let me photograph her today”?  “Of course”!

What transpired was one of the most fun days I had shooting in 2009.  Four teenage girls that were only 13.  My niece will be 14 next week.  I cannot believe how she has grown up on me!  So here are the wonderful shots of four teenage girls on a beautiful autumn day.

    New Changes for 2010

    January 27th, 2010

I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Since we were all snowed in for so long I have been focusing on my business structure for this year and the changes that I am planning to make.

The first change that I am making is that I am now offering baby plans.  This plan will allow you to have the most momental moments of your “little one” captured at my studio or in your home.  I have broken up the milestones by shooting during the first ten days of your baby’s life, six months, and a first year birthday party.  At the end of the first year you will be able to take home a custom designed album of the images that I captured during the first year sessions.

The second change that I have made is that I have created packages custom packages for you.  You will still be able to order  “a- la-cart” but there is a sizeable discount available for purchasing a package.

The third change is that I am now offering custom session albums available of your session.  These albums will be a “coffee table” style book of the best images from your session.

The fourth and last change that I have made for 2010 is that I am cutting back on weddings.  This was a tug-of-war decision that I have made for my family.  While I have loved being apart of my client’s wedding day I have often felt that I was missing out on a HUGE part of my children’s lives.  There have been many activities that I have steered my children away from because I knew that during wedding season it would be difficult for my husband and I to be there to support our children.  After going over this a million time in my head I have resolved to the fact that by 2011 I will not be shooting weddings at all.

I hope to see many of you this year.  I am looking forward to trying out  a lot of new idea’s that I have for photographing children and teens.

    See you soon!
